“The speed of the leader determines the pace of the pack.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you’re not growing as a leader, the church will overtake you and start leading you rather than you leading the church. You have to do everything you can to stay ahead and continue to grow.
Develop an unshakable conviction about growth. You as the leader have to set the pace believing that it is the will of God for your church to grow. One of the most unselfish things your church can commit to doing is to be committed to growth, giving up that special chair, close parking spot or a certain style of music. You must communicate that your church’s commitment to growth is really a commitment to the great commission – to wanting and celebrating people being won to Christ – to caring that people are going to hell. Your church’s commitment to growth begins with you as the leader, believing that it is God’s will and helping others give up themselves for the sake of the Kingdom.
